What Does Self-Care Have to do with Financial Security?
Self care is a multi-billion dollar industry. Filled with the many external ways we can take a break from our lives. But what does self care have to do with financial security?
The industry tells us that self-care is taking a bath with a nice candle, taking a mini-break or an expensive holiday, eating organic food, drinking alcohol…
But what the industry doesn’t talk about is that real self care is about doing the unsexy things. Like budgeting, or tax, or getting healthier / fitter, or going to the doctor for a check up.
It’s the difference between dealing with the spurting artery or just slapping a band-aid on it and hoping it will stop bleeding.
My question for you today is are you ready to stop the underlying stress and guilt that comes from not taking steps to look after yourself financially?
Learning how to be financially secure isn’t that difficult – I’ll agree that it’s a bit less sexy than a lovely bath with a glass of bubbles, candle and a face mask BUT it’s a lot more effective at giving you a feeling of achievement, giving you a feeling of being in control and most of all helping you to sleep at night knowing that you are facing the future financially secure.
So What Are the Foundations of Financial Security?
Your money mindset – understanding why you behave how you do with money (including burying your head in the sand!)
Understanding your current financial situation in totality including your retirement savings
Setting strong financial goals including how much money you need to fund your retirement
Learning how to budget and save
Understanding why and how to invest
Knowing why and when you need personal insurance
